Project Brief

Design a dwelling that that will respect the urban characteristics of locality whilst reflecting a contemporary styled residence with good passive and active energy efficiency aspects. Spacious areas for friends and family to enjoy whilst taking advantage of the pleasant views across Encounter Bay.

Design Elements

The allotment encompasses a 2-metre gradient from the rear to the south east boundary. Offering the opportunity to place the building in a manner, which minimised the impact to natural ground from conventional cut and fill. The dwelling encapsulates private open areas through the use of timber decking linking the indoor and outdoor areas, pool and raised balcony areas. High-performance double-glazed skylights were used to provide generous levels of lighting in the dwelling throughout the day whilst minimising thermal gains. Openable windows have been positioned to maximise cross ventilation. The finished building is a valuable contemporary addition to the current street context and will enhance the variety and choice of dwelling types in the area to meet the needs of a wider community.
